A certificate of analysis, or COA, is a lab report showing what is actually inside a CBD product. It is the single most useful document a CBD buyer can learn to read, because the label tells you what a company intends to sell you and the COA tells you what an independent laboratory found. Every Encore Life product is tested by an independent third-party laboratory.
Why third-party testing matters
A COA issued by the manufacturer's own lab is a claim. A COA issued by an independent laboratory with no stake in the sale is evidence. When you review a COA, the first thing to check is the name and address of the lab that issued it. If no lab is identified, treat the document as marketing, not testing.
The potency section
The potency panel lists the cannabinoids detected and their amounts. Two numbers matter most. First, total CBD: compare it to the label. A 1500 mg bottle should test reasonably close to 1500 mg of CBD. Wide gaps between labeled and tested CBD are one of the most common problems regulators have documented in this category. Second, delta-9 THC: hemp products must contain less than 0.3% delta-9 THC on a dry-weight basis to be federally compliant. The COA is where that number is verified rather than asserted.
The contaminant panels
A complete COA goes beyond potency. Look for panels covering pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, and microbial contamination. Hemp is a bioaccumulator, meaning the plant absorbs what is in its soil, so contaminant testing is not a formality. If a COA shows potency only, you know what is in the product but not what else came with it.
Match the batch
A COA describes one production batch, not a brand. Check that the batch or lot number on the COA matches the number printed on the bottle in your hand. A COA from a different batch, or with no batch number at all, tells you little about your specific product.
Red flags
Walk away from a COA with no lab name, no batch number, no date, or a tested CBD amount far from the label claim. Be skeptical of screenshots and summaries; a legitimate COA is a full document you can read yourself.
