Quality is not a marketing line for us. It is the standard the rest of the company is built around. Here is what that looks like in practice.

Why this matters more in this category

The CBD market is not consistently regulated. Independent research has documented significant problems across commercial products on the market: labels that do not match what is in the bottle, contamination with heavy metals and pesticides, and unexpected THC in products marketed as THC-free. For a customer trying to make a confident choice, those quality issues are not abstract. They affect what they put in their body.

Encore Life came up through pharmaceutical work. The discipline we are accustomed to from that world is what we built into Encore Life from the start.

Sourcing

We aligned ourselves with experts in the industry verified through an extensive vendor qualification process. We will not compromise product quality with a substandard partner.

  • Hemp is sourced from growers who meet our agronomic and quality standards.
  • Vendors are qualified before we place a first order. Qualification covers extraction methodology, testing protocols, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
  • We maintain ongoing supplier review. A vendor that passes initial qualification but slips on quality does not stay in our supply chain.

Manufacturing

Our finished products are produced under quality controls designed around pharmaceutical-style discipline. Extraction methods are evaluated for cannabinoid yield, terpene preservation, and the absence of residual solvents. Every batch is documented and traceable.

Testing standards

ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories

ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration laboratory competence. It means the lab has documented its methods, demonstrated its accuracy, and submitted to independent assessment. Not every laboratory testing cannabinoid products meets this standard. The ones we work with do.

Every batch, not every product

Some companies test one batch of a product, get a clean certificate, and reuse it. We test every batch. The COA you can request matches the lot number printed on the bottle in your hand.

What we screen for

Cannabinoid potencyCBD, CBN, CBG, and delta-9 THC quantified per serving and per bottle.
Federal complianceVerification that delta-9 THC is below 0.3 percent by dry weight, the limit set by the 2018 Farm Bill.
Residual solventsConfirms that no extraction solvents remain at unsafe levels in the finished product.
PesticidesScreened against a multi-residue panel; production lots failing any pesticide threshold are rejected.
Heavy metalsLead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury. Documented contamination of CBD products is a real and ongoing concern in this industry.
Microbial contaminantsYeast, mold, and aerobic bacteria within ingestible-product safety thresholds.

Certificates of analysis (COAs)

A COA is the document a third-party laboratory issues describing what is actually in a product. Ours have four properties that matter:

  1. Independent. The laboratory is not owned by or affiliated with Encore Life.
  2. Batch-specific. The COA references the lot number printed on the product you purchased.
  3. Comprehensive. Cannabinoid potency, residual solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, microbial contaminants.
  4. Available on request. Contact us with the lot number and we will provide the COA for that batch.

Labeling honesty

One of the most common practices in this industry is to inflate the cannabinoid number on the label by counting carrier oil weight or by including trace cannabinoids that contribute little or nothing to the labeled potency. We do not do that.

  • The CBD number on our label reflects what is actually in the bottle. It does not include oil weight.
  • The serving size reflects an actual serving. We do not divide the label number across an unrealistic number of doses to make the product look more potent than it is.
  • If we are not confident the lab can verify it, it does not go on the label.

Federal compliance

Every Encore Life product complies with the 2018 Farm Bill definition of hemp: cannabis containing no more than 0.3 percent delta-9 THC by dry weight. This is verified by third-party laboratory testing on every batch. We do not sell products that exceed this limit through Encore Life.

The legacy of where we came from

Our leadership team carries more than 80 years of combined pharmaceutical experience. The expectation we are accustomed to from pharmaceutical work, that what a label says is what is in the bottle, is the expectation we built Encore Life around. The mechanisms differ from prescription-drug manufacturing, but the standard does not.

Our Advisory Board, led publicly by Dr. Erika Schwartz and Dr. Kenneth A. Bock, adds clinical perspective on top of the manufacturing discipline. The Board reviews product decisions and educational content. The two layers reinforce each other.

Why we publish the science

One reason we built a public Cannabinoid Science Library is that we want customers to be able to verify what we say against the underlying research. The library includes the peer-reviewed studies documenting product mislabeling and contamination in the broader market. We did not edit those out. The problems exist. They are part of why our standards look the way they look.
